tedTALKS
If I were asked to pinpoint one of the best discoveries I've made this past school year, I would have to tell you it was Ted Talks.
I had no idea what they were before this year. I've been lucky enough to be part of the Humanities Student Council this year, and these Ted Talks are part of our weekly discussions. They are inspirational, funny, entertaining, and downright genius. We focus ours on leadership and teamwork obviously, because that's what we're focused on as a council, but there are MANY more types on the website.
Let me start from the beginning.
The website is simply ted.com. And it's filled with thousands of speakers and conferences this organization has held throughout the world. The talk on a variety of different subjects and you can search for those accordingly. Some are only 5 minutes long, whereas some are close to 45 minutes. But they both have the same impact.
So since I'm raving about these, you probably want some recommendations yeah? Here are some of my favorite ones.
David Logan: Tribal Leadership
This was one of the first ones I watched, and it's a really great one. He discusses the different levels of life and teamwork we tend to go through. Really eye opening. Logan somehow got word that me and my council were discussing this talk on our blog and left us a message thanking us for our hard work and to keep going!

Derek Sivers: How to Start a Movement
This is a really short one, but definitely gets you thinking. WATCH THE CRAZY KID!

Kathryn Schulz: On Being Wrong
This lady knows what's going on. She describes the human natural so simply and perfectly it leaves you stunned. This is one of the more recent ones I watched and I'm still trying to recover from how much my mind was blown.

J.K. Rowling: The Fringe Benefits of Failure
Okay, if you're a human being, watch this video. I don't care if you like Harry Potter or not, it is amazing. She has the ability of speech and expression like no one else does. I admired her a whole lot before I watched this, but this just increased that ten fold. WATCH IT.

These are just a few of the thousands that you can watch. I subscribed to get an email each for a new video. You can also get them weekly. I think it's a great way to stay motivated, learn different skills and think about different issues in ways you never have before. I certainly love them and would highly suggest them to anyone!
