Concerning Student Life

By 1/07/2011

BYU students are a curious thing. They come in all shapes and sizes. Tend to be rather poor. And can be seen sleeping in, under, on, and over all nooks and crannies of campus. Over the passage of time, they have developed a keen love for Facebook and late night runs to the creamery. But what students truly desire is a passing grade, love, and a car that runs smoothly.

It's a funny thing how students lives play out. The smallest of things can become the biggest. Such as a good glass of orange juice, watching a movie on a small laptop, or seeing your hero/future husband on campus. Cafe Rio becomes an essential part of survival. iPods are needed for constant sanity. Late library sessions can turn out to be affective or not so much. The word "weekends" becomes more than just a word, it becomes paradise. Names like Jimmer Fredette, John Beck, and Johnny Harline are followed with hushed voices of gratitude and love; whereas names like Whittingham, Meyer, or...whatever that guys name is, are normally said in sarcastic, unrelenting voices, or merely just spoken as He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named. Students work just as hard at finding an eternal companion as you would on your school work. And in some cases, students merely need a temporary companion in order to have someone hold their hand awkwardly all over campus. Sad. We sing in tunnels. because the effect of hearing our voices is a phenomenon. No one checks their mail for weeks. In order to have communication with other students, one needs at LEAST a Facebook, a cellular phone, or an email that you check frequently. Otherwise........socializing becomes quite the adventure.

Late nights. Ice cream. Movies. Weekly television shows. Coloring nights. Homework. Reading. Work. Classes. Boys. Girls. Boy+Girl. Games. Love. Puppy Love. Girls nights. Halo nights. Photobooth. Walking. Walking. Walking. Snow. Cold. Naps. Facebook. Friends. Food. Life.
Students continue to survive, with or without money, and seem to do it in a fairly comfortable manner. No matter how hard classes are, no matter how high the homework seems to stack up, no matter how many times you wished that boy/girl would give you the time of day. Student Life is a great thing.
