Prologue: Europe 2.0-Paris
The next installment of my Prologue Europe series is the beautiful Paris. Oh dear me, I want to giggle a little bit just thinking about it.
The city of love, food, fashion, culture, and...smoke. But I think I can overlook that minor detail as I eat crepes every hour.
So lets start with some basics. Founded in the 3rd century by the Celtic people called Parisii, it quickly became the largest city in the western world. The home of much of the arts, science, commerce, and finance, it boosted its way into history. In the 18th century it became the center point of the French Revolution. But that's kind of depressing....so I won't linger on that.
Today, it's the capital of France, standing as the 5th largest city in the European nations. It's the home of the biggest fashion names in the world, including Dior and Chanel. It holds their annual fashion weeks in January and July in the Carrousel du Louvre. It is also home to L'Oreal and Louis Vuitton. I can't deny that I love beautiful fashion and perfume and all that girly stuff that goes with it. Reading all this stuff makes me just sigh a little......

Next on the agenda is the arts. From the beautiful Paris Opera House to the most visited art museum in the world--the Louvre--Paris bursts with opportunities to experience beautiful art and performance. As a great lover of history and art and music, I wish I could spend a week just in Paris so I could take days in the Louvre and go to the opera in my pearls and visit every grave-site of historical people. Not to mention the LIBRARIES that are all over the place. What I wouldn't give to just lose myself in a giant old library. #ancientbookworm
Alright, it's time to hit the love of my life--food. There's so much food there that I cannot begin to even make a sliver of a dent in it. But I've tried to find the most common foods that everyone has to try there.
1. Bread.
As someone who has been going very low carb and staying away from breads, I cannot begin to describe to you how excited I am to throw caution to the wind and savor that delicious baguette I'm going to stick in my purse to eat all day. #alldayeveryday
2. Pastries.
Flaky, buttery, sweet or savory filled pastries that I will take full advantage of. The French have some of the worlds best, according to experts. One specific one that I want to try is the Pain au Chocolat. A delicious pastry with chunks of European chocolate throughout it. Don't mind if I do.
3. Crepes
You didn't think I could go through this without mentioning one of the biggest thing the French are known for? America has hotdog stands. Paris has CREPE STANDS. We're doing something wrong here. Nutella crepes, fruit crepes, caramel crepes, breakfast crepes, lunch crepes, dinner crepes. CREPES GALORE.
4. Macarons
These delicious, light cookies are something I dream about frequently. I love the smooth texture and delicious flavors they can have. And Paris...well....it's kind of the home of these little ladies. Salted Caramel, chocolate, apricot and pistachio, creme brulee, rose, lime and basil, the flavors go on forever! And you can bet that I'm going to be buying myself a box of them.

I know there are MANY more foods that I need to try. I was starting to get hungry again looking at all the websites for this stuff.
To prevent this post from becoming a short novel, here's a quick and easy way to give you some more facts on this city of love.
There's so much more to Paris. The landmarks. The people. The film industry. The music. It's such a culturally diverse place that it's impossible to touch it all. Let's just say I'm going to be soaking in every single minute of it.
As my favorite lady once said, "Paris is always a good idea." -Audrey Hepburn
