Adventure is Out There!

If you haven't seen Disney/Pixar's Up, then first.....you need to better your life and watch it.

For those who have, you know how cute young Mr. Frederickson is when all he wants to do is find adventure and explore?? It's ADORABLE. And also something that doesn't change with age, as we see in the movie.

Well, summer is beginning. A new leaf is turning. Which can only mean....ADVENTURE.

I feel, like any normal young adult should, that I'm at a place in my life where the moment needs to be grasped and I need to experience and do things. I've tried doing that the last year of my college experience and it's turned out pretty well for me. But, that's only made me want to do MORE. As a young, single, and now graduating woman, life is staring me in the face. Waiting.....and waiting....and waiting for me to do something.

So, why not go on adventures!

What exciting plans do I have this summer do you ask?

Well, let me tell you. :)

There's simple things, like read 3 or 4 books a month, go to a yard sale, have a christmas in July party (because you know that's really cool). I want to throw a tea party, go to baseball games and eat a hot dog, learn to play tennis, and swim, swim swim! I want to go to a midnight showing(s) of a movie. I want to go to the Parade of Homes, because...well WHY NOT?

Then there's my outdoor activities I want to do. Such as do bonfire's in the canyon, go on hikes at least twice a month, go to the Tulip Festival at Thanksgiving Point, and run a 10k! I'm training for a half marathon in September, so why not throw a 10k in the middle of the summer. I want to eat healthy and indulge myself every once in a while. ;) I want to star gaze. I want to watch sunsets and sunrises.

I want to go to the LDS church history museums, the new aquarium, the Clark Planetarium, and any other cool museums I can find! I want to tour the Conference Center and see the beautiful garden on top. I want to do baptisms at least twice a month in a different temple.

Road trips. What is summer without road trips? St. George/Zions, with a Tuachan show thrown in there? #dontmindifido Maybe some camping trips? Backpacking trips? Yep. All the above.

I have a few personal growth goals for the summer (and beyond) too. With no longer being in school, I still want to continue to learn new things. I love TED talks, so obviously I'm going to watch those (and probably blog about them) constantly. I want to READ, READ, READ! Biographies, fiction, historical novels, sci-fi, youth fiction, fluffy romance, mystery, suspense, classical, you name it, I want to read it. I want to make it a goal to research a new topic at least once a week. Learn about something new. Or learn a new skill. I want to learn new skills that can help me in the future or just be fun in the moment. :)

Life has so much to offer. There are so many things we can experience, even just right in your own state. Take advantage of the excitement and opportunities around you! I hope with time, and hopefully a little well earned money, I can have the opportunity to travel and experience even MORE things. But right now, I have to be content with what's around me....and frankly..I am! Let Mark Twain tell you in a more literary way:

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover."

Touche my good man. Touche.
