therapy session with myself and the internet

By 6/02/2013 , , , , , ,

So, I've always been one of those people who enjoys hearing what other people think I'm like. Their own description of me. Clearly, I know myself well, so it's interesting to see how others perceive me.

That being said, I kind of enjoy taking personality/horoscope quizzes/color tests....you get the idea. Now, granted, I understand that they aren't black and white, all or nothing, kind of results. But honestly, some of them are pretty good. I don't know if it's just...my mind telling me, "Oh yeah, Audrey, you're definitely as great as that's telling you," or "Ooo, I'm NEVER like that. Why would I be obsessive with something so dumb?" But, either way, I tend to agree with what they say.

Now, I've found that taking the tests with someone who knows you well is the best way to go, because then when you read the results and you read the negative sides to your personality, you have someone there to be like "Yeahh...Audrey...you are kinda like that." Side note: You would preferably choose someone who likes you despite your faults. But I mean..I guess that's your call. Haha...

So, as I've been taking a lot of these kinds of tests lately, I've found a few consistent things in my personality results. Read as follows: ....(Disclaimer: this is what the tests have showed me, not what I think about myself. Well....maybe I do. But, still...)

  1. Leader type personality. Comfortable with leading and taking initiative.
  2. Yearns to genuinely connect with people. Wants close relationships.
  3. Strong moral ethics.
  4. See the BIG picture, rather then focus on the moment
  5. Neglect themselves to help others, sometimes even trying to bear too many of others' burdens.
  6. Good perception of others, and details.
  7. Ambitious
  8. The need for respect, praise, and recognition.
  9. Stability
  10. PASSIONATE
  11. Like to think out decisions, but will make quick ones when needed.
  12. Cautious
  13. Loves History. (Hit that one on the nail...)
It's hard to say it, but most of those pretty much describe me to a T. At least in my own opinion. You all might think differently, but...meh. Think what you want. :)
Well, unfortunately, every test shows the negative things too.
  1. Can be perceived as cold and detached--I'd like to think this was wrong, but people have actually told me this was their first impression of me. Soo.....I learned to make sure I smiled more. ;)
  2. Soft and tender heart, but keep a strong wall to protect from hurt and rejection.--Ehh...yeah, can't deny it.
  3. One of the tests said Capricorns (which is my sign) are awkward....hahah I couldn't help but laugh for a few minutes.
  4. Tendency to procrastinate--Yep.
  5. Stubborn
  6. Pessimistic--This was one of those things that ALL of them said. But honestly, I'm don't think I'm that's pessimistic. My best friend even agreed with me. So..I'm justified
And there's always the fun stuff that you can get with your horoscope and stuff like that:
  • Born on a Monday
  • Capricorn
  • You are most compatible with those with the Life Path numbers 1, 5 & 7.
  • You are least compatible with those with the Life Path numbers 2, 4, 6, 11 & 22.
  • Born on a Leap Year--Clearly that's cool...
  • Born in the Chinese Year of the Goat
  • Your date of birth on the Hebrew calendar is 1 Shevat 5752
  • Your Native American Zodiac sign is Goose; your plant is Bramble.
  • You are 7,818 days old.
  • Your age is the equivalent of a dog that is 3.05988258317025 years old.
  • Your opposition sign is Cancer.
  • Your lucky day is Saturday
  • Your birth flower is CARNATION
  • Your birthstone is Garnet
Is it weird to enjoy finding these things out? To make things better, there were cool people (at least I think) born on my birthday:
  • Joan of Arc
  • Loretta Young (old movie actress)
  • Eddie Redmayne (Marius, in the new Les Mis. Can we say...mmmmmmhhhhhm)
  • Stephen Bogart (Humphrey Bogart's son)
Events that took place ON my birthday:
  • 1912-New Mexico is admitted as the 47th state
  • 1941-Franklin D. Roosevelt delivers his "Four Freedoms" speech. As a history lover, AND FDR is my favorite president, I appreciate this greatly.
  • 1st U.S. women's 6-day bicycle race starts, Madison Square Garden
  • Albert Einstein married his wife
  • Theodore Roosevelt died
  • Dizzy Gillespie died
There's nothing quite like having a therapy session with yourself and online tests that CLEARLY know everything. ;) But in the end, it does give you a good sense of what you're like and what you could work on. It's nice to step back and kind of look at yourself and how you might have changed over the years, or, in some cases, HAVEN'T changed over the years. Just remember, taking a test doesn't set your personality in stone. You are who you are, and we all just need to love and embrace that. :)
